When Camilla and Gerhard - the owners of Girasol - set out on a journey to the American continent in 1980 , they had no idea that a great opportunity would open up.

Inspired by the hand-woven textiles and handicrafts, they began selling them in Mexico. When they returned to Germany in 1983, they continued this trade at flea and weekly markets and later set up a shop in Berlin to sell the products wholesale.

Since then, the products have been sourced almost exclusively directly from manufacturers in Guatemala and Mexico . Small craft businesses, independent weaving and tailoring shops.

Fair trade and sustainability are always Girasol's top priority and more than half of the profits go to Guatemala.

Internationally known as a baby sling manufacturer, Girasol has been on the market for several decades now - the handmade products are not just for lovers! Independent and certified institutes test all products to ensure they are free of harmful substances and are fast to saliva.

The Girasol MySol baby carrier was developed in 2009 - " My" for mine and "Sol" for sun. Since then, in addition to its beautiful slings, Girasol has also been offering baby carriers that can be used for a wonderfully long time.
